The History of Tillicum Chapter

In January 1962, there were plans afoot to start a new DAR chapter in the Highline neighborhood of Des Moines, Washington. By December, that chapter was ready to organize with the name 'Tillicum', a Chinook word meaning “friend; person”. By January 20, 1963, Tillicum Chapter, NSDAR, had organized and was officially recognized by NSDAR as a new chapter. Starting with just 17 members, more than 60 years later we now have over 60 members!
